Out And About
Cornwall is a land of contrasts; the rugged North coast, with its spectacular cliffs and granite moorlands; and the softer sub tropical South coast, with flower filled lanes and the lush vegetation of the wooded creeks. It is also the land of antiquities, a Bronze Age landscape of standing stones, Iron Age forts, fougous and ancient field systems. There are large stretches of uncultivated heath, dominated by the reminders of a great mining heritage - the ivy covered engine houses.

Dotted around the coastline you will find traditional Cornish fishing villages with narrow winding streets, and cottages leading down to quaint harbours. Added to all this, we should not forget the great artistic tradition of St Ives and Newlyn. Many famous artists, writers and craft people have lived and worked here, and much of their work can be seen in the new Tate Gallery in St Ives.
Calloose is ideal for activity holidays such as golf, fishing, diving, rambling, surfing etc. Sea fishing trips can be arranged on a boat that is equipped with the latest hi-tech, fish finding, navigational and wreck detecting electronics.

While staying in West Cornwall you may like to take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly - which lie almost 30 miles south-west of Land's End. There are over 100 islands, only 5 of which are inhabited, the capital, St Mary's, Tresco (with its world famous gardens), Bryher, St Agnes and St Martins.
It is quick and easy to get to the islands these days. The ferry, Scillonian III, with its two-and-a-half hour crossing, leaves from Penzance. There is also a 20 minute helicopter service from Penzance, and a 15 minute SkyBus fixed wing aircraft service from Land's End Airport.
How about a visit to the fascinating open-air Minack Theatre? Carved from the rock at Porthcurno, the sky and sea provide a stupendous backdrop to the many productions staged here during the summer season.
